
Industries and Commerce observes National Safety Week
Kargil: District Industries Centre Kargil, Department of Industries and Commerce, Ladakh organized various events to generate awareness about the safety of the workers at workplaces in District Kargil as part of National Safety Week from March 04 to March 10.
To begin with General Manager, DIC Kargil administered a pledge to the workers and employers in the industrial Estate Kurbathang and Chanchik. Pamphlets with the safety measures to be adopted by employers and employees at workplaces were also distributed to the Unit Holders.
To sensitize youth of the district on safety, DIC Kargil organized an essay competition in collaboration with GDC Kargil. Prizes/momentos were also given to the participants.
The week-long program concluded on today (March 10) with a workshop in collaboration with the Department of Labour and Employment in which representatives from the Industrial Association, Labour Organizations, Department of Health took part.
The event was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Ghulam Mohiduddin Wani, Divisional Forest Officer, Ali, CMO Kargil, Dr Munawar Wazir, Assistant Commissioner Labour, Raziya Khatoon, President labour Union Kargil, Kachoo Shamim.
On the occasion, General Manager DIC Kargil highlighted various legislations for the protection and safety of workers with clause-wise discussion on the protections available in the Factory Act 1948.
