In a first, Private school in Kargil merges into Govt Model School Wakha

Kargil: Executive Councillor, Education, LAHDC, Kargil, Zakir Hussain on Friday attended MoU signing ceremony between Education Department and SMDC/VEC members of Government Model Middle School Wakha held at GMMS Wakha.

This is the first time in the history of Kargil district that a private institution namely ‘Wakha Public School Wakha’ along with all assets, building and land measuring about 8 kanals was handed over to the Education Department and the school is merged with government.

Similarly, another school namely MS Kharkhore was also merged with the GMMS Wakha in presence of Councillor Shargole, CEO, ZEO and SMDC/VEC Members. CEO, ZEO, Councillor spoke on the occasion.

In his concluding speech, the Executive Councillor emphasized the importance for SMDC/VEC members and parents to prioritize creating an educational environment at home and provide special attention to the students.

He further commended the efforts made by SMDC/VEC members for their keen interest in the students and assured them of full support from the Education Department and LAHDC.

In the end, the school was officially adopted as a Model School under the PPP Mode, and it was named as Government Model Middle School Wakha.

It has been decided that, initially, a committee will be formed by the CEO Kargil to oversee the replacement of school books and uniforms. The EC instructed the CEO Kargil to ensure that all necessary items, including furniture and furnishings, are provided for the school.
