Kargil: The Government Degree College (GDC) Drass, in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre Srinagar, conducted an interactive pre-admission counselling session today at the GDC Drass campus. The session aimed to guide students through the admission process and inform them about academic opportunities available through IGNOU.
Principal of GDC Drass, Nasir ul Mehdi Shabani, welcomed the guests and addressed the importance of education in today’s competitive world. He highlighted the value of pursuing dual courses under the National Education Policy (NEP) and encouraged the community to actively engage in and support educational progress.
Dr. Mohd Abdullah, Assistant Director at IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar, served as the guest speaker. He delivered a detailed presentation on IGNOU’s admission procedures, assignment structure, and examination system, while also offering an overview of the wide array of courses offered by the university.
The session was moderated by Mr. Sajad Hussain, Assistant Professor, who facilitated a smooth and interactive discussion. Students enrolled in IGNOU programs and those currently studying at GDC Drass attended the session with enthusiasm.
During the event, NCC cadets and guest speakers were felicitated by Principal Shabani in recognition of their efforts and participation. The session concluded with a vote of thanks, extending appreciation to Dr. Abdullah and the college faculty for their valuable contributions to the academic growth of students.
