Leh: After rigorous effort of Balti Youth Initiative on Climate, Education and Socio Cultural change for past three years in conservation of water in Tyakshi village of Turtuk by building artificial ice stupas, the group has gained support from Ice Stupa Project HIAL, Leh.

Ice Stupa Project Hial will now support this group of 40 young boys from the Tyakshi and Pachathang in building more artificial ice stupas in their village and nearby areas.
It is pertinent to mention here that these villages are located at 11000 feet above sea level in Nubra valley of Ladakh and its population was facing acute shortage of water before this group become active in the area.
