Jammu: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered the immediate transfer of two AGMUT cadre officers from Jammu and Kashmir to Ladakh, in a move seen as part of routine administrative reshuffling within the Union Territories.
According to an official order issued by the MHA, IAS officer Nidhi Malik (AGMUT: 2013) and IPS officer Koshal Kumar Sharma (AGMUT: 2012) have been posted to Ladakh with immediate effect. The order, approved by the competent authority, stated that the postings will remain in force until further directions.
Nidhi Malik was recently serving as Inspector General of Registration in Jammu and Kashmir, a posting she assumed last month. She has previously held key administrative assignments, including that of Deputy Commissioner Reasi, where she was involved in district-level governance and development initiatives.
Koshal Kumar Sharma, an IPS officer of the 2012 batch, has also been serving in Jammu and Kashmir in various capacities. His transfer to Ladakh comes at a time when the Union Territory continues to see evolving administrative and security requirements.
The AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre is unique in that its officers are liable to serve across multiple regions, including Union Territories such as Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Transfers within the cadre are periodically undertaken to meet administrative needs and ensure optimal deployment of personnel.
The latest order underscores the Centre’s continued efforts to streamline governance structures in Ladakh, which has been directly administered by the Union government since its creation as a Union Territory in 2019.
