JAMMU: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir on June 23 to have first-hand review of the security scenario, a week ahead of the commencement of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
Shah will also address a grand public rally here on June 23, the death anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, in his first visit to Jammu since January this year, when he had arrived here to review the security situation in the region, following twin terrorist attacks in Rajouri. Shah was slated to visit Dangri village in Rajouri but couldn’t do so due to bad weather.
The BJP observes June 23 as Mukherjee’s ‘Balidan Diwas’.
As per the top sources in the administration, Shah will review the security situation in Srinagar for the Shri Amarnath ji Yatra, which is commencing on July 1, in a high-level meeting with the top brass of CRPF, BSF, ITBP and other para military forces, along with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
While there is no concrete plan yet, the home minister is also likely to pay obeisance at the holy cave shrine and review the preparations at ground before heading towards Jammu, where a public rally has been planned under party’s Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan programme being held on the completion of nine years of governance under PM Narendra Modi, coinciding with ‘Balidan Diwas’.
“Mega public rallies are being organised at each parliamentary constituency in Jammu and Kashmir. In the Jammu parliamentary constituency, a mega public rally will be organised in Jammu city on June 23, which will be addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Ravinder Raina said on Tuesday.
Leaders and activists of the party have to devote more time to mobilise the public to attend the rallies, including the one by Amit Shah, said Raina addressing a Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan programme being held to highlight the achievements of the Narendra Modi government.
J&K BJP’s general secretary (organisation) Ashok Koul said Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyaan has witnessed massive response from the public and has been a boost for the morale of party workers at the grassroots.
People in large numbers should reach the rally venue, Koul added.
