The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, on Saturday reviewed arrangements for the holy exposition of sacred Buddha relics in the Union Territory, terming the event a historic and spiritually significant milestone for Ladakh.
Chairing a high-level preparatory meeting at Lok Niwas, the LG called for meticulous planning, seamless coordination and time-bound execution to ensure the success of the exposition. Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra and several revered Rinpoches attended the meeting.
The sacred relics are expected to arrive in Leh on April 28–29, with a grand ceremonial reception scheduled for May 1. The relics will be placed at Jivestal for public दर्शन for about 15 days, enabling devotees from across Ladakh to seek blessings.
Officials informed that transportation facilities and district-level coordination would be ensured to maximise participation. The spiritual leaders expressed gratitude to the UT Administration and suggested robust security, effective crowd management, sub-committees for execution, mass chanting ceremonies, multilingual information outreach and an interfaith seminar promoting global peace.
Describing the exposition as a defining spiritual occasion, the LG emphasised the relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings in fostering unity, compassion and harmony, especially in today’s volatile global environment. He also directed departments to prepare for an expected surge in tourists during May and ensure smooth arrangements.
Appealing for collective support, the LG urged citizens, volunteers, youth groups and religious institutions to work in coordination with the Administration to make the holy exposition a grand and memorable success.
