Leh: In a spiritually significant moment for the region, His Holiness Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche, the revered spiritual leader of the Sakya tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, arrived in Leh today to a warm and ceremonial welcome.
Leading the reception at Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport was Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, accompanied by a large gathering of religious heads, community leaders, government officials, and devotees from across Ladakh.
Among those present to greet His Holiness were Executive Councillor Adv. Stanzin Chosphel, LBA President Tsering Dorjay Lakrook, LGA President Ven. Dorje Stanzin, former Members of Parliament Thupstan Chhewang and Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, LBA Women’s Wing President Kunzes Dolma, BJP State President Tashi Gyalson Khachu, and President of Matho Gonpa Ven. Jamyang Karma. Also in attendance were monks from Matho Gonpa, members of the Matho Goba, senior department officials, and local villagers.
CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson expressed deep reverence and joy on the arrival of His Holiness, stating that the visit is a matter of great spiritual honour for the people of Ladakh. “Receiving the blessings of His Holiness is a moment of immense pride and devotion for all of us,” he said.
Following the ceremonial welcome, His Holiness proceeded to Matho village, where hundreds of devotees had gathered in anticipation. The village resonated with spiritual chants as locals offered prayers and received blessings from the revered lama.
The visit of His Holiness Sakya Trichen Rinpoche marks a deeply auspicious occasion for Ladakh, reinforcing the region’s strong spiritual and cultural heritage.
