Khaltse, February 05: In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare outreach in remote areas, the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Khaltse, Dr. Shamim Ahmed, organised a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) camp at Tia village on Wednesday, providing specialised medical services to residents of the region.
The medical camp was conducted by a dedicated team of doctors and paramedical staff, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for the local population. The team included Dr. Stanzin Yangdol (Physician), Dr. Stanzin Phunchok (Medical Officer), and Dr. Shaista Iqbal (Dental Surgeon), along with supporting healthcare personnel.
During the camp, residents were provided with general physician consultations and screening for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), particularly Diabetes and Hypertension. Dental check-ups, including tooth extractions, were also conducted, besides essential laboratory investigations.
A total of 85 patients from Tia village and adjoining areas availed the medical services during the camp. The initiative aimed to enhance healthcare accessibility in far-flung areas and encourage preventive health screening among rural populations.
The local residents appreciated the efforts of the health department for bringing essential medical facilities directly to their doorstep, reducing the need to travel long distances for treatment.
