
Health and Family Welfare Deptt Leh observes Jan Aushadhi Diwas
Leh: The Health and Family Welfare Department, Leh Thursday celebrated Jan Aushadhi Diwas also known as ‘Generic Medicine Day’.
The week-long Jan Aushadhi Diwas began on March 1 and will run up till March 7 and will be celebrated across India.
The aim of Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebration is to popularize the use of generic medicines.
The Health Department promotes prescription of generic medicines as a State policy and to bring greater awareness about the benefits of the scheme.
In this connection, on day-one, stalls were installed at the Main Market Leh and SNM Hospital Leh under the program ‘Jan Aushadhi Chetna Jan Abhiyan’.
Disseminating awareness to the public, the pharmacists spoke about the significance of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojna (PMBJP) Scheme.
Similarly, on day-two, an awareness procession was held at District Hospital Leh to mark the Jan Aushadhi Pratigya Yatra.
Moreover, the Drugs and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) in collaboration with Ladakh Price Monitoring and Resources Unit (LPMRU) gave awareness to common masses and the pharmacists about the Jan Aushadhi quality generic medicines that are available at different centres across the country and at Leh and Kargil district of UT Ladakh at affordable prices.
They also briefed about the employment generation scheme launched by the Govt by engaging individual entrepreneurs in the opening of Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
