Leh: The much-anticipated visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to Zanskar has been postponed by a day due to unfavourable weather conditions.
The spiritual leader was scheduled to arrive today, but dense cloud cover and safety concerns forced organizers to reschedule the program.
Padang Lhawang, President of the Zanskar Buddhist Association, confirmed the postponement and informed that the visit will now take place tomorrow, July 20, at the same scheduled time in the morning.
“All preparations had been made, and devotees had gathered early in the morning. However, due to the weather, the event had to be called off for today. We hope conditions improve by tomorrow,” he said.
The visit of His Holiness holds deep spiritual and emotional significance for the people of Zanskar, and hundreds of devotees from nearby villages had already reached the venue in anticipation.
Local authorities and volunteers are now working closely to ensure smooth logistics for the rescheduled event.
Despite the delay, the atmosphere remains charged with devotion and excitement as Zanskar prepares to welcome one of the world’s most revered spiritual figures.
This will be His Holiness’ first public visit to Zanskar in several years, and the community is eager to receive his teachings and blessings.
