Leh: Chairman, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, received His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Edzin Nurbu at Phyang Monastery this morning and accompanied him to the airport for his departure to Manali via Sarchu.
The visit marks the conclusion of His Holiness’s two-month-long stay in Ladakh, during which he led a range of religious and environmental programmes across the region.
Executive Councillor Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Councillor Phyang Tundup Nurbu, and Nominated Councillor Ven. Könchok Tsephel were also present at the airport to respectfully see off His Holiness.
Also present were Drikung Khenchen Könchok Rangdol Rinpoche, Choktrul Rigyal Rinpoche, Choktrul Norbu Tsang Rinpoche, Secretary General LBA Gelong Könchok Gyalson, Vice President LBA Kunzes Dolma, along with other members of the monastic community, devotees, and followers who gathered with ceremonial scarves, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the blessings and presence of His Holiness.
On behalf of the people of Ladakh, the CEC extended warm wishes to His Holiness for a peaceful onward journey and a fulfilling retreat.
He further expressed hope that His Holiness will continue to grace Ladakh with many more visits in the times to come.
Later in the day, CEC Gyalson, was called on by a delegation from the Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA), led by Nominated Councillor Ven. Konchok Tsepel.
The delegation included LGA President Ven. Dorje Stanzin, General Secretary Konchok Gyalson, Vice President Geshe Lobzang Tashi, and Office Incharge Ge Tsering Therchin.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a proposal seeking support for strengthening the Dharma Centre.
They also held discussions on the current status of the Ladakh gompa association and reviewed matters concerning the security of monasteries in the region.
The CEC assured the delegation of necessary support in addressing the concern raised.
