Leh: As part of the 100-day countdown to the 10th International Day of Yoga, a special event was organised at Mahabodhi Buddha Park, Saboo, Leh on Sunday.
The occasion also marked the beginning of what is being envisioned as a Mahakumbh of Yoga, attracting a large gathering of yoga enthusiasts, students, and citizens.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson attended the event along with Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena and other prominent personalities from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEC said that yoga is a powerful practice that brings balance to the mind, body, and soul. He urged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily routine to stay fit and healthy.
“Yoga has been practised for over 5,000 years and continues to serve as a timeless path to wellness. It has now gained global recognition through the United Nations, which has adopted it as part of a worldwide campaign for good health,” he said.
He also emphasised Ladakh’s potential to emerge as a global destination for spiritual learning and yoga. “LAHDC Leh will continue to support the initiatives of MIMC under the leadership of Ven. Sanghasena Ji, who has dedicated his life to service, compassion, and charity,” he added.
Looking ahead to the 10th International Day of Yoga, to be celebrated on June 21,the CEC shared that a formal invitation has been extended to the Prime Minister to attend the event in Leh and he is hopeful that he may attend.
