Leh: Government Boys Higher Senior Secondary School, Leh conducted School Parliament Elections on April 17.
The aim of the initiative is to provide the students with first-hand experience of the democratic process while simultaneously electing the School Captain for the session 2024.
The school parliament election provides a platform for students to engage in constructive dialogue, articulate their ideas and exercise their right to vote.
This process helps students to learn about the importance of civic responsibility, leadership and the value of active participation in the decision making process.
Principal, Govt. Boys HSS, Leh, Tsering Norbu emphasised the significance of such initiatives in shaping responsible citizens for the future.
He said that at Govt Boys HSS Leh, he believes in nurturing not only academic excellence but also inculcating democratic values and leadership skills among the students.
The School Parliament election serves as a crucial learning opportunity for the students to understand the essence of democracy and leadership.
The election process involved various stages including nomination, campaigning, voting, adhering to democratic principles of fairness, transparency and inclusivity. Candidates presented their visions and plans for the school, showcasing their leadership potential and commitment to serving their peers and the school community.
Stanzin Dawa emerged as the elected school captain for the session 2024. He said that he is honoured to have been chosen as the School Captain by his fellow students and he is committed to representing their voice, advocating for their interest and working towards the betterment of the school.
