Leh: In a heartrending incident, three soldiers, including two Agniveers, lost their lives when an avalanche struck the Siachen base camp in Ladakh on Sunday.
The avalanche occurred in the 12,000-feet-high Siachen base camp area, one of the world’s most challenging battlefields, where soldiers face extreme weather conditions and rugged terrain.
The soldiers have been identified as Sepoy Mohit Kumar, Agniveer Niraj Kumar Choudhary, and Agniveer Dabhi Rakesh Devabhai.
They made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty while performing their responsibilities in adverse conditions to safeguard the nation.
Upon learning of the tragedy, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Fire and Fury Corps, along with all ranks, paid their heartfelt tributes to the martyrs. They offered deep condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity during this period of profound grief.

The avalanche trapped the soldiers under snow, and rescue teams immediately launched relief efforts. Despite all attempts, the bodies of the trapped soldiers were recovered. The incident has shocked the armed forces and citizens alike, highlighting the dangers soldiers endure to protect the country.
The Siachen Glacier, stationed at one of the highest and most inhospitable locations on earth, demands constant vigilance and bravery from soldiers. Freezing temperatures and hazardous conditions make survival and service extremely challenging. This tragic event is a stark reminder of the sacrifices made by these brave men in the name of national security.
