Zanskar: Drugs Control Department and Price monitoring and Resource Unit, UT ladakh organised an awareness programme on the topic “Prevention of Drug abuse/ Substance use” in the College today on Monday. Students from higher secondary School and College, Public representatives, faculty members have attended the programme. Two session was conducted during the programme.
The first session started with the welcome speech by Prof. Ishaq. While in his introductory speech he highlighted about the various drugs and its negative impact. He also emphasised on the various aspect, that a drug addicted people suffers through out in his life. He also highlighted, the various features and sign of addiction.
Mr. Bashir Drug Controller officer Spoke at length on the drug addiction. He also shared some experiences of drug addiction. He appealed the students not to get indulged in any kind of drugs whether it may be smoking, alcohol or other dangerous form of drugs.
He said that the department itself could not enough to control and prevent the drugs. Drug trafficking and trading is a big challenge, it can not be stopped, but most important is that whole society should be awared and educated about the menace and Together we could make a big difference in controlling and preventing the drug addiction.
Dr. Nawang I/C CMO also Spoke on the occasion, and awared the participants about many drugs and its abuse. While Dr. Kulsoom also shared information on the topic and how one can manage stress.
In the second session Miss Nazia field investigator Spoke about the function of Ladakh Price monitoring and Resource Unit UT ladakh. While Mr. Nawang presented a detailed presentation on the role of national pharmaceutical pricing authority (NPPA). During the course of his lecture he explained how pricing of a drug violation can be checked. Under the aeiges of NPPA an online grevience redressal service under the name ” Pharma Jan Samathan” and Pharma Sahidaam” is available in order to check pricing of medicines, availability and to book complaints.
At the end Many questions were raised by students which was answered by Mr. Bashir Controller officer. Miss Nazia field investigator moderated the whole programme.
