GMDC Zanskar celebrates Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign

Kargil: Government Model Degree College Zanskar celebrated “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, on August 14 to honour and remember the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country.
On the occasion, Ex- Servicemen of Zanskar Sub-division were invited and welcomed in the college with traditional khataks.
The programme begun with the National Anthem. A pledge of Panch Pran was taken by all staff members, Ex-Servicemen and students, with the focus to make India a developed country, eliminate slavery, be proud of the rich heritage, uphold solidarity and unity, fulfil duties as citizens, and respect those who protect the nation.
A patriotic song was also sung by college students in commemorating and remembering the brave soldiers and their families for their ultimate sacrifice for the country.
A rally was also held in the college premise to mark the national integrity, unity and to show solidarity with the families of brave soldiers.
A cultural dance was performed by students of 1st Semester to felicitate the veers.
At the event, a Sena Medal Awardee Namgyal spoke about Ladakh Scout and narrated the history of India-Pakistan war as well as his war experiences.
At the end, as a gesture of love momentos were distributed among the ex-servicemen for their incredible service.
Dr Jamphel, Assistant Professor English conducted the program proceedings while Dr Abid Hussain, Assistant Professor Zoology, presented vote of thanks.
