Nubra: The Career Counselling Committee of Government Degree College, Nubra organised a ‘Felicitation-cum-Learning from My Experience’ event on April 8, 2025, to honour and celebrate the achievements of two of its students, Shah Jahan and Sanju Kumari, who were selected to represent the Union Territory of Ladakh at the recently held National Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament.

Both students earned the opportunity to participate at the national level, showcasing their talent and dedication.

At the state-level selection, Shah Jahan secured the first position, while Sanju Kumari achieved the second position among 39 participants drawn from all colleges and both campuses of the University of Ladakh.

The district-level speech competition was conducted on 26th March, followed by the state-level competition on 28th March. The national-level event took place in New Delhi from 1st to 3rd April.

The felicitation event was held to formally welcome the students back to college and to acknowledge their accomplishments.

The program began with an address by the Principal Dr Tsewang Motup, who extended warm congratulations to the achievers. Both students were felicitated with traditional khadaks as a token of honour.

This event also formed part of the college’s ongoing “Learning from My Experience” talk series, where Shah Jahan and Sanju Kumari shared their journey and insights gained during the competitions at the district, state, and national levels.

They recounted their visit to the national capital, including tours of both the New and Old Parliament buildings, and interactions with youth representatives from across the country. They emphasised that cultivating a deep sense of discipline helped them a lot during their journey.

They emphasized that coming from a remote region or a peripheral institution should never be seen as a barrier. Instead, they highlighted that dedication and hard work are the true keys to success.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Professor Stanzin Padma, Convenor of the Career Counselling Committee, who appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged students to draw inspiration from their journey.
