Nubra: The Debate and Seminar Committee of Government Degree College, Nobra under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Tsewang Motup celebrated Bhoti Language Day starting trom 27″ March, 2025 and culminated on 1 April, 2025.
On the opening day, Principal Dr. Tsewang Motup spoke about the importance of preserving Bhoti language and expressed concern over the younger generation drifting away from it, calling it a deeply unfortunate trend.
Dr. Tsewang Motup urged students to incorporate Bhoti language into their daily lives to help preserve and promote the language.
He also stressed the learning Bhoti by the youth, noting that it could enhance their personal development, employability, and skill-building.
Dr. Tsewang Motup shared examples of how knowledge of the language could open doors to brighter opportunities for students in the future.
Then, a quiz competition was organized on the theme “Exploring the History of Bhoti Language”. A total of eight students forming four teams, participated in the quiz competition showcasing their knowledge and understanding of the language. Team A was declared the winner and team B secured the runner-up position.
On the second day i.e.. 29 March, 2025, a Speech competition was conducted on the theme “Role of Bhoti Language in preserving Cultural identity.
All the students actively took part in the competition and Zara Batul and Zanskit Dolma of 4 semester secured first and second positions, respectively.
On 1 April, 2025, the ‘Bhoti Language Day’ was marked by a Calligraphy Competition. in Bholi Script whereby Zara Batul and Zanskit Dolma of 4 semester secured first and second positions, respectively.
In the end, winners of the competitions were facilitated by the Dr. Tsewang Motup Principal of Govt. Degree College, Nobra with khataks.
