CEC Akhoon convenes meeting
Kargil: Stressing upon the concerned officers to complete the tasks up to the end of November 2023, Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon Friday presided over a meeting on shifting of Government Degree College, Drass to New Campus.

The meeting was attended by Executive Councilor, PHE/I&FC, Kacho Mohammad Feroz, Executive Councilor Education/PDD, Zakir Hussain, Councilor Bimbhat, Abdul Wahid, Councilor Ranbirpora, Abdul Samad, Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Kargil, Maqbool Hussain, CEO Kargil, Principal Govt. Degree College, Drass, Executive Engineer PHE, Kargil, Executive Engineer Mechanical, Kargil, Executive Engineer R&B, Executive Engineer, Electric Distribution (PDD) Kargil.

At the outset of meeting, the Principal GDC, Drass in his presentation apprised the meeting about the potential, enhanced student enrollment, subjects introduced in the college, ongoing construction work on the project etc.

It was informed that the college will be shifted to the new campus after February 15, 2024 and the college will initially start its work from the College’s Hostel Block.

The chair was also briefed about requirements for shifting of college to new campus site (the hostel block), like water facility, dry toilet facility, electrification of the hostel block etc.

The CEC instructed the Superintending Engineer PHE Circle Kargil to ensure the water facilities to the new building as soon as possible. He directed Executive Engineer, R&B Division to issue tender for the dry toilet facilities.

The Executive Engineer PDD was directed to ensure the electrification of the hostel building on priority basis. Regarding the maintenance of the approaching road, the CEC directed the Executive Engineer R&B Division Kargil to look into the matter.

Regarding, the shortage of the clerical and PET staff, he instructed the concerned officials to explore the possibilities. The CEC stressed upon the concerned officers to complete the tasks up to the end of November 2023.
