Tai-Suru: A 10-day free ice hockey training camp has commenced at Youljuk, Tai-Suru Block, Kargil, organized by Downhill Kargil Adventure Sports Club with the support of Hon’ble Councillor Tai-Suru, Abdul Hadi.
The initiative aims to promote winter sports and nurture local talent in ice hockey, a sport gaining rapid popularity in Ladakh.
The training camp was inaugurated with great enthusiasm, witnessing participation from young athletes across Tai-Suru and nearby areas.
The event focuses on enhancing essential ice hockey skills, including skating techniques, puck control, and team coordination, under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors.
Founder of Downhill Kargil Adventure Sports Club, Imtiyaz Ali Khan, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering a strong sports culture in Ladakh.
“Ice hockey is not just a sport but a passion for the youth of Ladakh. This camp will provide structured training, helping aspiring players refine their techniques and prepare for national and international competitions,” he said.
The Hon’ble Councillor of Tai-Suru, Abdul Hadi, expressed his full support for the initiative and encouraged local youth to take full advantage of the opportunity.
“Such programs are crucial for the development of winter sports in Kargil. We are committed to supporting young athletes and providing them with the resources they need to excel in ice hockey,” he stated.
