Leh: Former Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Stanzin Wangyal Gara and Ven Sangdup from Padum Monastery called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Commissioner, Secretary to the LG, Dr L Franklin, IAS, were also present in the meeting.
Wangyal and Ven Sangdup expressed their gratitude for the declaration of Zanskar as a district. They also requested for sanctioning funds to construct a winter-friendly multi-purpose community hall at Pipiting in Zanskar.
The LG asked Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, to look into the matter on a priority basis.
A delegation comprising members of Ex-Servicemen Union Zanskar led by its President, Tsering Dorjey, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/ Secretary to the LG, Dr L Franklin, IAS, and Secretary, PDD, Shri Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, were present in the meeting.
The delegation requested the LG’s intervention in a land dispute at Kojothang, Zanskar about the ex-servicemen there.
The delegation informed the LG that the land reserved for ex-servicemen in 1985 had been infringed upon by individuals and requested the LG to intervene in the allotment of the said land to the Ex-Servicemen Union Zanskar, for which they had approached the district court in 2019 without any success.
They also expressed their gratitude to the HLG for declaring Zanskar as a separate district. The LG asked Advisor to the LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, to examine similar cases about the allotment of land to ex-servicemen groups, war heroes and war widows. He informed the delegation that any decision taken shall be strictly per the law’s provisions.
