Leh, March 24, 2026: A five-day residential workshop on Development, Videomaking, and Editing titled ‘Beyond the Frame’ was successfully flagged off for students of Mass Communication and Journalism, Eliezer Joldan Memorial College Leh. The workshop is being organized by Charkha Development Communication Network, New Delhi, with the aim of equipping students with practical skills in documentary film making.

The workshop was formally inaugurated as the bus carrying participating students was flagged off by Principal EJMC, Professor Stanzin Yangdol. Addressing the students, she emphasized the importance of using media as a tool for social change and encouraged them to engage deeply with real-world issues.

The workshop is designed to help students explore and articulate critical themes such as gender, development, and climate change through the visual medium of documentary filmmaking. It aims to provide hands-on training in storytelling, shooting, and editing, enabling participants to produce meaningful and impactful content.

The resource person for the workshop is Mr. Manas Rastogi, a prominent Director of Photography with over 10 years of professional experience. He has previously served as Video Lead at Nykaa and has created digital video content and branded campaigns for leading brands such as Coca-Cola, Samsung, Google, and Hilton Hotels. His expertise is expected to offer valuable industry insights and practical exposure to the students.

The Charkha Development Communication Network team was represented by Ms. Chetna Verma, CEO, along with other members of the organization, who will be guiding and mentoring students throughout the workshop.

The students are being accompanied by Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Ms. Hajira Bano, and Assistant Professor Mr. Mohd Ali Khan.

The workshop promises to be an enriching experience, blending theory with practice, and empowering students to use visual media as a powerful tool for development communication.
