Drass, October 25: A five-day Life Skill Training Workshop (LiST) on the theme “Self-Confidence and Mental Well-being for Girls” began today at Government Degree College (GDC) Drass, under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyaan (PM-USHA) in collaboration with The Art of Living Foundation. The programme will continue till October 31, 2025.
The workshop aims to equip female students with essential life skills including mind management, stress reduction, communication, leadership, teamwork, time management, health awareness, and emotional resilience.
The inaugural ceremony commenced with the Principal being honoured with traditional khatags. In his address, the Principal underscored the significance of gender equity initiatives and the college’s commitment to fostering mental well-being and personal growth among young women.
Ms. Kousar Rizvi, School Manager and Trainer from The Art of Living Foundation, noted that GDC Drass is the first college in Kargil district to host this globally recognized training programme. She encouraged students to seize this opportunity for personal transformation.
The sessions are being conducted by a team of experienced trainers — Mr. Kushagra Gupta, Electrical Engineer turned Entrepreneur and Life Skills Trainer; Ms. Kousar Rizvi, Coordinator, Art of Living Ladakh; and Mr. Rohit Ranjan, a nationally acclaimed youth trainer known for his motivational work in conflict zones and premier institutions.
Ms. Parveen Fatima, Convener PM-USHA, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the collaboration between the college and The Art of Living Foundation. The event was anchored by Dr. Haseena, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology.
The week-long training is expected to enhance the confidence, emotional strength, and leadership abilities of participating students, fostering a culture of resilience and well-being among young women in the region.
