Leh, Feb 10: A five-day workshop on Art Education and Theatre under the National Population Education (NPE) Programme commenced on Tuesday at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh. The workshop is being held from February 10 to February 14, 2026.
The programme aims to strengthen creative teaching methodologies and promote experiential learning through art and theatre, in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises holistic, joyful and activity-based learning.
The workshop is being conducted by two distinguished resource persons. Retired senior teacher Tsetan Angchuk is sharing his expertise in art-integrated education and theatre practices, while renowned pottery artist Skalzang Dorje Likir is guiding participants in traditional and contemporary art forms and their relevance in classroom education.
Teachers from various schools across the district are participating in the workshop. The training includes interactive sessions, live demonstrations and practical activities aimed at equipping educators with innovative tools to integrate art and theatre into teaching and population education awareness.
The initiative is expected to enhance teachers’ creativity, communication skills and understanding of learner-centred pedagogy, thereby contributing to improving the quality of education in the region.
