Leh: The Chairman of LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Friday.
Feroz apprised the LG of various ongoing development projects in the Kargil district and the need for his interventions in some matters, including the management of solid waste in Kargil.
He informed about the issues arising due to the limited area of the Municipal Committee, Kargil and the majority of people of Kargil residing in rural areas.
The LG asked Feroz to start solid waste collection in Kargil at least once a day to keep the area and localities neat and clean. He emphasised the need to engage various stakeholders and prepare a roster for the collection of waste.
The LG stressed the need to tackle overflowing, boulder-choked drains in Drass wastewater management in Drass and asked Feroz to ensure that wastewater is not disposed of in nallahs, rivers and other water bodies to avoid contamination. He asked Feroz to do it in mission mode.
Director, RDD, Tahir Hussain and Executive Officer, MC Leh, Stanzin Rabgais were present in the meeting.
