January 19, 2026: Executive Councillor for Rural Development Department (RDD), Cooperatives and Forests, LAHDC Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi visited the Kargil Wing of Ladakh Bhawan at Dwarka, Delhi, to review the progress of ongoing works at the facility.
During the visit, the in-charge of the Kargil Wing informed the Executive Councillor that the building comprises 20 double- and triple-bed rooms, along with dormitory and VIP rooms. The facility also includes a kitchen and dining hall, which have been completed and are ready for handover, subject to clearance of pending liabilities related to executed works.
While inspecting the premises, the Executive Councillor observed that the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) has been installed on the rooftop, which, he noted, may create technical challenges for smooth operation at a later stage.
He appreciated the quality of construction and adherence to specifications, and directed the concerned authorities to complete the remaining works within the stipulated timeline so that the facility can be made operational at the earliest.
The Ladakh Bhawan Kargil Wing is expected to serve as an important asset for residents of Kargil district visiting Delhi for official engagements, medical consultations, and other essential purposes.
Er. Punchok Tashi also recalled the initiative taken by the then Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Kacho Ahmed Khan and former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Qamar Ali Akhoon in identifying and purchasing the land from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) under the District Capex plan. He further acknowledged the efforts of former CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan in securing construction funds from the UT Administration, and Dr Mohd Jaffar Akhoon, who prioritised the project and brought it to its present stage.
Referring to similar facilities, Er. Tashi said that Kargil Sarais in Srinagar and Jammu have been effectively serving people in need, and expressed confidence that the Delhi unit would also prove equally beneficial.
The Executive Councillor expressed gratitude to all stakeholders in LAHDC Kargil, the UT Administration of Ladakh, and the Government of India for facilitating the establishment of this facility for the people of Kargil in the national capital.
