Leh, March 10: EJM Government Degree College Leh celebrated International Women’s Day with enthusiasm on Monday, honouring women’s achievements and promoting gender equality among students.
The event was attended by Bhanuprabha, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest. She was welcomed by Principal Stanzin Yangdol.
The programme began with the national anthem and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by a welcome address highlighting the role of education in empowering women. Speakers encouraged students, particularly young women, to pursue ambitious careers and contribute meaningfully to society.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of the college magazine ‘Senge Khabab’. The Chief Guest also felicitated students for their achievements in sports, NCC and academics.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to the CII Foundation, while internship students were also honoured during the programme.
The celebration also featured poetry recitation, motivational addresses and the screening of a documentary titled Women: A Journey to Empowerment in Kargil, highlighting inspiring stories of women from the region.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Hajira Bano, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality in Ladakh.
