Leh: The Education Department of Ladakh organized a grand farewell party in honour of the outgoing Director, Mr. Tsering Paldan (JKAS), and warmly welcomed the new Director, Ms. Tashi Dolma (JKAS), at Nangsay Garden Restaurant, Shey. The event was attended by a large gathering of officers, principals, headmasters, lecturers, and staff of the department.
In her address, Ms. Deldan Angmo, CEO Leh, highlighted the remarkable contributions of Mr. Paldan during his tenure. She praised his initiatives such as the Winter Residential Coaching programme, which significantly improved CBSE board results, the successful organization of the Education Conclave, the institution of the Teacher Awards, ULAS Mela and the tremendous improvement in school infrastructure across Ladakh. She described these efforts as “historic milestones” in the progress of Ladakh’s education system. Ms. Angmo also extended a warm welcome to Ms. Tashi Dolma and assured her that the same cooperation and support would be extended by all employees of the department to achieve greater success in the future. Other speakers on the occasion included the ZEO Leh, Ex-ZEO Nubra, Dy. CEO Kharu, and representatives of Principals, Headmasters, and Lecturers. Each of them fondly recalled the leadership and vision of Mr. Paldan and expressed optimism about working under the guidance of Ms. Dolma.
In her maiden address, Ms. Tashi Dolma, the newly appointed Director, thanked the department for the warm welcome. She emphasized the importance of teamwork and collective responsibility, remarking that “we must work hand in hand to improve the educational scenario of Ladakh and create new opportunities for our students.”
In his farewell speech, Mr. Tsering Paldan expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support and dedication he received from the teaching and non-teaching staff of the Education Department. He lauded their tireless efforts in translating policies into ground-level improvements. As a gesture of appreciation, he presented letters of commendation to all Heads of Institutions and officers of the department.
The function concluded with CEO Leh presenting a token of appreciation and gift on behalf of the department to Mr. Paldan. Finally, as a mark of respect and Ladakhi tradition, all officers and officials present offered Khatags (traditional scarves) to the outgoing Director and the new Director. The evening was marked with warmth, gratitude, and traditional auspicious dance—
celebrating the legacy of one leader while welcoming the vision of another, as the Education Department of Ladakh looks forward to scaling new heights under its new leadership.
