Kargil: A team from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) visited the Government Degree College (GDC), Drass today as part of the ongoing ‘Enterprising Ladakh’ initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and skill development in the region.
The visiting team included Abhishek Nandan, Project Manager, Fariha Fatima, Project Officer, and Padma Lhazes, who held a detailed discussion with the college coordinator for Enterprising Ladakh, Mr. Rizwan Ali, Assistant Professor of Physics, along with faculty members from the Departments of Commerce and Skill Development.
As a key outcome of the meeting, it was decided that EDII will organize a student workshop next month at GDC Drass under the Enterprising Ladakh program. The initiative will focus on practical training in product packaging, labelling, and marketing, especially tailored to local products and small enterprises.
During the interaction, Mr. Ishfaq from the Skill Development faculty briefed the EDII officials on the existing course structure, student enrollment, and future plans for expanding skill-based learning opportunities.
In a symbolic gesture of gratitude, the visiting officials presented traditional khatak to the coordinator and staff, appreciating their support and hospitality during the visit.
The collaboration marks a positive step towards enhancing entrepreneurial capacity and self-employment opportunities for youth in one of the country’s most remote regions.
