Leh: Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat.
Chief Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner, Secretary to LG, Dr L Franklin, IAS and General Manager of BSNL Leh, Hariom Solanki were present in the meeting.
EC Yakzee raised the issue of BSNL mobile towers erected in Shachukul and Shayok villages in Durbuk area, alleging that despite making the tower functional, the towers have not been working for the last six months, causing a lot of inconvenience to the villagers.
He also raised the issue of data/voice call issues faced by the villagers and requested the LG’s intervention in resolving the issue at the earliest.
GM BSNL Leh informed the LG that the matter would be resolved at the earliest as technicians from Pace Electricals, which provides service, have arrived in Leh to make the mobile towers functional across Ladakh.
He also assured the LG that work on all remaining 241 mobile towers would be completed and made functional by the end of July.
EC Yazkee also highlighted the need to fill the vacant posts of Block Development Officers (BDOs) in Leh district.
The LG asked Chief Secretary to take the necessary steps to fill the vacant posts of BDOs by conducting the departmental promotion committee (DPC) at the earliest.
The LG highlighted the need to promote pashmina in the Changthang area and tackle the issue of the mortality rate of pashmina goats and their kids in the winter months.
