
EC Mohsin congratulates people of Trespone for shining at global cultural programs
Kargil: The Week-Long Cultural Revival & Language Awareness Workshop jointly organized by LAHDC, Kargil and Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (LAACL) Kargil, concluded Friday at Trespone valley.
Executive Councilor, Health, LAHDC, Kargil, Mohsin Ali and Executive Councilor, Social Welfare, LAHDC, Kargil, Aga Sayed Mehdi Fazily, were the chief guest and guest of honour respectively. Councilor Trespone Constituency, Aga Sayed Mujtaba, was the special guest on the Occasion. Many prominent personalities also attended the event including Nazir Hussain, Deputy Secretary, Kargil, Sheikh Asgar Ali, PRI members, senior citizens, workshop instructors, trainees, folk artists and cultural enthusiasts.
On the occasion, EC Mohsin, on behalf of LAHDC Kargil, congratulated the LAACL Kargil for organizing the workshop in Trespone. “It is overwhelming to see people of this area have preserved and continued their unique cultural legacy,” he said.
EC Mohsin said in this regard, LAHDC along with Ladakh Cultural Academy have always tried to preserve and explore tangible and intangible cultures across different corners of the district.
Underlining the importance of cultural preservation and communal harmony, he said Ladakh is known across the world for its syncretic and pluralistic values and it is our responsibility to maintain this feat.
The EC expressed happiness over the participation of trainees from different age groups and asserted keeping a balance between progressive thinking and traditional values.
Similarly, in his Speech Aga Sayed Mehdi Fazily also congratulated the participants, organizer and the people of Trespone for taking such a unique initiative to promote and preserve the rich traditional culture values of Purig world.
He said such workshops are the need of the hour and will definitely bring change in society. The younger generation will learn the legacy of cultural importance and values from the experts.
He further said that LAHDC, Kargil is committed to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Kargil Ladakh and the Hill Council is ready for unconditional support for such noble activities in the district.
In his welcome address, Trespone Constituency Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Aga Sayed Mujhtaba said the workshop is aimed to revive culture of the area and provide training to younger generation on different aspects of traditional Purig values and ethos.
He added that the onus of preserving the language, culture, and heritage is on ourselves and that we should strive internally to protect and conserve our rich tribal identity.
He thanked LAHDC, Kargil and Ladakh Cultural Academy Kargil for organizing such meaningful fruitful workshops in the villages for the very first time. Such Cultural Revival Workshop will definitely bring changes in society.
He on the behalf of the people of Trespone Constituency acknowledged and appreciated both the organizers for organizing such a fruitful workshop.
Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Cultural Academy, Kargil stated that LAACL and Hill Council, Kargil are committed and making concerted efforts in promoting and conserving the rich cultural heritage of Kargil according to the uniqueness of Ladakh. He also highlighted the importance of Ladakh’s rich traditions, customs, language and heritage, and the need for its promotion and preservation at the grassroots level.
The workshop trainees of Trespone valley presented their performance and group-based performances that enthralled the audience.
More than 40 trainees from Trespone and adjoining villages participated in the week-long workshop. They were given training about the nuances of Marsiya, Noha Khawani, Qasida etc. under the guidance of different experts.
At the end, all the dignitaries felicitated all the position holders among the participants and expert-cum-resource persons with cash prizes.
Program Coordinator, Mohd Hadi Maisum, conducted the program proceedings and presented vote of thanks at the end. He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and people of Trespone for making the event successful.
