EC Education Attends Annual Day Celebration of Govt. Model Middle School Gramthang

Kargil, September 11, 2025: Executive Councillor for Education, LAHDC Kargil, Zakir Hussain today attended the Annual Day Celebration of Govt. Model Middle School, Gramthang, Minjee.

The event was graced by Director School Education, Ladakh, Tashi Dolma; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Kargil, Jahangir Akhoon; Councillor Baroo-Minjee, Adv. Khadim Hussain; Principal DIET; Chief Education Officer, Kargil; Group Manager, NHPC Chutuk; besides ZEPO, VEC members, former Councillor, PA to MP Ladakh, Sarpanch, villagers and students.

In his address, EC Education lauded the efforts of the school faculty and Village Education Committee (VEC) for raising the school enrolment from 7 students to around 70. He commended the active role of the community and assured that, with the support of UT Ladakh administration, LAHDC Kargil is committed to bringing meaningful reforms in the education system. He also assured to fulfil the demands put forth in the memorandum submitted by the school authorities.

Director School Education, Ladakh, Tashi Dolma, in her remarks, praised the talent and performances of the students and assured to provide interactive panels along with teaching-learning materials (TLMs) to strengthen classroom activities. She further directed the Chief Education Officer, Kargil to ensure the participation of the school in the upcoming Kala Utsav and emphasized exploring more avenues of support for the institution. She also appreciated the role of NHPC for their CSR contributions in the education sector.

Councillor Baroo-Minjee, Adv. Khadim Hussain, highlighted the remarkable growth of student enrolment and achievements of the school. He informed that 16 kanals of land have been allotted for the school’s construction and expressed commitment to further cooperation in strengthening education in the constituency. He also mentioned that construction work of five new schools is currently underway in Baroo-Minjee.

Chief Education Officer, Kargil and Group Manager, NHPC also addressed the gathering.

At the outset, cultural performances, Qawwali recitation on inflation, speeches, and other student activities were presented by the students . Earlier, the dignitaries also inaugurated additional classrooms and a kitchen-cum-storeroom for the school.
