EC Agri reviews preparations for the upcoming Agri-Tech meet in Leh

Leh: Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel convened a meeting today to review the preparations and discuss the way forward regarding the upcoming Agriculture Technology meet to be held in Leh on August 10tth and 11th this year.
Dy Director NIELIT Leh, Phuntsog Toldhan, and Scientist, CSIR IMTECH Chandigarh, Shekhar Sharma apprised EC Chosphel of the objective behind organising the Agri-Tech meet cum farmers gathering in Leh. They added that the meet is aimed at creating awareness among the farmers about the latest innovations in agriculture, irrigation techniques, water management, and various other value addition technological methods along with the government schemes.
They further informed that agricultural experts from various agricultural research institutions, government departments, and financial institutions would be invited to promote awareness among the farmers of government schemes and the opportunities available.
EC Chosphel discussed the further way forward during the meeting and instructed concerned officials to exercise the engagement of as many farmers from across the regions for a successful and result-oriented Agri-tech farmer’s meet.
He also assured all possible assistance from the Department of Agriculture, LAHDC Leh as required for the event.
Internet of Things (IoT) based technology intervention in Polycarbonate Green Houses was also discussed during the meeting. EC Chosphel floated the proposal to have Agri-tech meet every year from next year onward in collaboration with NIELIT where more technological intervention can be explored in the field of Agriculture.
Associate Director SKUAST Leh, Dy Director, NIELIT, District Agriculture Officer Leh, and the Senior Officials and Scientists from CAZRI, DIHAR, and G.B Pant NIHE Leh attended the meeting. Scientist, CSIR IMTECH Chandigarh attended the meeting virtually.
