Leh,: In sacred memory of the brave martyrs Nawang, Dorjey, and Stobdan, who laid down their lives in the service of Ladakh and for the safety and dignity of its people, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, in collaboration with the LBA Youth Wing and Chushot Sporting Club, will organise the 27th Nawang Dorjey Stobdan (NDS) Memorial Champion Trophy T-20 Cricket Tournament commencing from 3rd September 2025.
A preparatory meeting in this regard was held at the CEC Office Chamber under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk. At the outset, the Hon’ble Dy. Chairman paid heartfelt homage to the martyrs, acknowledging their supreme sacrifice which safeguarded the unity, security, and pride of Ladakh. He remarked that it is the duty of every generation to keep alive the memory of these heroes, not merely through words but through meaningful initiatives that inspire the youth.
The Hon’ble Dy. Chairman emphasized the need for grand and well-coordinated arrangements to make this year’s tournament a befitting tribute to the martyrs. He stressed that sports, particularly football and cricket, serve as powerful platforms to inculcate discipline, unity, and resilience among the younger generation—values that reflect the very spirit of the martyrs themselves. He instructed that all necessary preparations, including ground readiness, upkeep of the astro turf, PA system, refreshments, sports equipment, and publicity, be completed well in advance. He assured that the Hill Council will extend every possible support for the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
This annual tournament is not merely a sporting event but also a symbol of respect, remembrance, and inspiration, reminding the people of Ladakh of the sacrifices of its brave sons. Earlier, the tournament used to be organised by the Tip Top Sports and Cultural Welfare Society.
The meeting was attended by Senior Vice President, LBA Youth Wing, Thinles Dorjey; DYSSO Leh, Tashi Thinles; Assistant Municipal Committee Officer, Sonam Namgyal; Xen Construction Division, Imraan Khan; along with members of the Chushot Sporting Club and representatives of NDS Chuchot Tsogpas.
