Drass, March 14, 2026: Councillor of Bhimbat Constituency in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, Abdul Wahid, expressed gratitude to Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, for donating a CT Scan Machine to the Sub-District Hospital in Drass, a key healthcare facility in the remote region of Kargil.
The commitment was originally made by Shinde during his visit to Drass last year on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas in 2025. Since then, Wahid said he had been consistently following up on the matter to ensure the procurement of the diagnostic equipment.
During a meeting in Maharashtra, Wahid personally thanked Shinde on behalf of the people of Drass Sub-Division. The CT Scan Machine has now been procured, while remaining formalities—including documentation and assessment of space at the hospital—are currently underway.
Officials said the machine will soon be transported to Drass, and its formal inauguration is expected to take place in June 2026.
In addition to the CT Scan Machine, Shinde has also committed to provide a Force Motors Ambulance for the Sub-District Hospital, which will be delivered along with the diagnostic equipment.
Wahid described the donation as a landmark development for healthcare infrastructure in Drass, a remote and strategically important area that has long lacked advanced diagnostic facilities such as CT scanning. The new equipment is expected to significantly improve medical services in the region and reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for diagnostic tests.
The facility will benefit not only the local population but also security personnel stationed in the region.
The councillor also thanked Jaffar Akhoon, Chief Executive Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, for his continued support in facilitating the initiative.
