Farmers to Visit KVK, SKUAST & Kurbathang Farm; Kisan Mela to Showcase Modern Farming Practices
Drass, September 17, 2026: The Department of Agriculture, Drass, has launched a five-day farmer exposure and training programme in Kargil, scheduled from September 17 to 21, aimed at equipping farmers with practical knowledge and greater exposure to modern agricultural practices.
The programme was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Drass Imteeaz Kacho, along with Tehsildar (HQ) Abdul Aziz, in the presence of officers and officials of the Agriculture Department.
Briefing the participating farmers, Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Drass Stanzin Idong outlined the itinerary and activities planned during the five-day visit.
As part of the programme, farmers will visit Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and SKUAST, interact with progressive farmers and agricultural experts, and undertake an exposure visit to Kurbathang Farm.
The participants will also attend the Kisan Mela in Kargil, where they will gain firsthand exposure to agricultural technologies, government schemes, improved farm practices and new innovations.
The initiative aims to strengthen farmers’ knowledge, technical skills and decision-making through field-level learning, practical demonstrations, expert interaction and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.
