Leh: Director of Health & Medical Education, UT Ladakh, Dr. Tashi Thinlas, conducted a day-long inspection of ongoing health infrastructure projects across multiple villages in Khaltsi Subdivision. He was accompanied by the BMO Khaltsi, SO (Planning), and JE, R&B Khaltsi during the site visits.
The inspection covered key construction works at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs located in Mangue, Hemis Shukpachan, Ullay Tokpo, Saspochay, and Liker. The team reviewed the construction of 4-unit staff quarters being built under the Special Development Package (SDP), each costing Rs. 1.6765 lakh.
Expressing satisfaction with the overall progress, Dr. Thinlas directed the BMO and R&B officials to expedite the official handover process and ensure that all pending liabilities of contractors are cleared at the earliest.
During the visit, local villagers—led by the respective representatives—raised concerns over ambulance services. They requested the sanctioning of a new ambulance, as the existing one funded under MPLADS is expected to expire by the end of 2025.
However, the inspection team raised serious concerns regarding poor workmanship at the NTPHC building site in Hemis Shukpachan, which is being constructed under the District Capex Budget.
Later in the day, Dr. Thinlas, along with the SO (Planning) and local villagers led by the Nambardar of Liker, inspected the NTPHC building and 4-unit staff quarters under construction in Liker village.
The visit emphasized the importance of timely completion, quality control, and continued support for rural health infrastructure in Ladakh’s remote areas.
