
Dr Padma Gurmet participates in WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit
LEH: Director, National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa Leh, Dr Padma Gurmet participated in first-ever WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit in Ahmadabad, Gujarat, an official spokesperson said on Saturday.
The first World Health Organization Global Summit on Traditional Medicine was inaugurated on 17″ August 2023 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat alongside the G20 health ministerial meet. Director General of WHO Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and the Union Ministry of Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya were invited to light the ceremonial lamp.
Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Rajnikant Patel, Union Minister of State for Ayush, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, and senior delegates of WHO were also present on the occasion.
More than 75 Nations participate in the first-ever global Summit on Traditional Medicine.
Dr Padma Gurmet has requested the WHO Traditional Medicine Centre to incorporate Sowa-Riga under the ambit of WHO Traditional Medicine Centre, the WHO Traditional Medicine Centre official has assured to incorporate Sowa-Rigpa.
