DPS Parents Association Leh, Student Union UoL call on LG Mishra

Leh: A delegation comprising members of the Parents Association of Delhi Public School Leh led by Tsultim Dorjey called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas on Thursday.

Tsultim informed about efforts made by the parents of students studying at DPS Leh to improve the education standard at the school. He also informed about the absence of a Principal at the school.

He raised several issues related to the school, viz. the need for a local principal, the creation of a School Management Committee with the inclusion of a few parents; winter-friendly classrooms at the school for the convenience of students; the absence of annual day celebration from school, the need to encourage the teaching of Bhoti/Urdu at the school and the need for adherence to CBSE norms by the school, etc.

The LG assured to look into management issues and other issues about the welfare of students.

A delegation of the Student Union University of Ladakh led by Dorjay Namgyal called on the LG at Raj Niwas.

Dorjay raised several issues related to students of UoL, including the recognition of BEd and BPEd courses by the concerned body; the need to develop infrastructure at the UoL Campus in Leh; the need to look into the fee structure of UoL; the need to subsidise the rates of bus along with the need to provide additional buses for students; the need for Wi-Fi facilities at UoL Campus; the need to relocate the library at the central location for the convenience of students; fair and transparent recruitment of faculty and non-teaching staff for the University, etc. The LG assured to look into the matter.
