Leh, December 1, 2025: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Leh today organised a special awareness programme at the District Court Complex to mark World HIV/AIDS Day. The event saw participation from Advocate Phuntsog Stobgyal, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, court staff, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs).
Addressing the gathering, Advocate Phuntsog Stobgyal highlighted the significance of World HIV/AIDS Day as a platform for stakeholders to raise awareness about the pandemic and encourage progress in its prevention, treatment, and care.
He also outlined key provisions of the HIV and AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act, 2017, which aims to curb the spread of the disease while safeguarding the legal and human rights of affected individuals. Emphasising the importance of eliminating stigma and discrimination, he noted that the Act ensures access to essential services and provides a robust grievance redressal mechanism through a State-level Ombudsman and establishment-level Complaints Officers.
The programme concluded with a call for continued collective efforts to support prevention, protect rights, and enhance care for people living with HIV/AIDS.
