District Coordination Committee for School Health & Wellness reviews progress in Leh


Leh: Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeva led a comprehensive review meeting of the District Coordination Committee for School Health & Wellness at the DC office in Leh.

Dr. Iqbal Ahmad, State Immunization Officer from Ladakh, delivered a detailed presentation during the session, which delved into critical areas such as Ayushman Bharat, School Health and Wellness Programme coverage, and the training of Health and Wellness Ambassadors (HWAs).

Key discussions highlighted the urgent need to address adolescent anemia, refine monitoring and supervision plans, and allocate budgets for the fiscal year 2024-25. Deputy Commissioner Sukhadeva, emphasizing result-oriented approaches, identified actionable gaps for improvement.

The meeting also addressed concerns regarding session duration, activity quality, and the status of the online portal. Plans were outlined for surveys on pregnant women and the implementation of thematic days in schools, with a renewed emphasis on enhancing the quality of government schools.

DC Leh recommended streamlining processes and boosting coverage percentages through collaboration with Block Resource Coordinators (BRCs), Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), and Block Officers (BOs). Additionally, strategies were devised to integrate non-CBSE private schools into initiatives and enhance monitoring mechanisms for comprehensive data collection.

Furthermore, the CEO and ICDS officer assured that BRC will be nominated and the reporting will be streamlined till the next review meeting.

Concluding with plans for subsequent meetings, heightened ambassadorship, and recognition for outstanding educators, the session underscored a commitment to advancing the region’s health and wellness agenda.

Attendees included the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, Programme Officer from ICDS, Nodal Officer from SHWP, DIET Leh, President of the CBSE School Committee, and other concerned officers and officials.
