Leh, Ladakh – October 9, 2025 – The Directorate of Ayush, UT Ladakh, under the National Ayush Mission (NAM), in collaboration with the Ladakh Nun Association, successfully organized a two-day Free Geriatric Health Camp to promote holistic and preventive healthcare for senior citizens. The camps were held at HelpAge India, Shey on October 6, 2025, and the Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) Old Age Home, Choglamsar on October 8, 2025, benefiting over 70 elderly individuals.
On October 6, approximately 30 senior residents at HelpAge India, Shey, received medical consultations for common ailments such as joint pain, migraines, indigestion, phlegm disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, and general weakness. Personalized diagnoses were followed by the free distribution of AYUSH medicines to all attendees.
On October 8, the camp at TCV Old Age Home, Choglamsar, provided care to around 40 elderly patients with health concerns including thyroid disorders, arthritis, hepatitis, asthma, constipation, gastritis, chronic joint conditions, nerve disorders, and psychiatric issues. Free AYUSH medicines were distributed following individualized consultations.
Led by Dr. Kunzes Dolma from the Directorate of Ayush and Ven. Dr. Palmo of the Ladakh Nun Association, the camps emphasized natural and integrative healing through AYUSH systems of medicine, tailored to the unique needs of geriatric care. The initiative was warmly received by residents and staff, who appreciated the focus on traditional and holistic healthcare approaches.
This outreach reflects the Directorate of Ayush’s commitment to delivering accessible, community-centered healthcare, particularly for vulnerable and elderly populations across Ladakh. The collaboration with the Ladakh Nun Association underscores the power of partnerships in promoting wellness and enhancing awareness of AYUSH benefits in geriatric care.
