Leh: In a focused effort to assess the on-ground progress of the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP) in Ladakh, Ms. Sweta Singh (IFS), Director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), chaired a high-level review meeting at the DC Office Conference Hall in Leh on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, Deputy Commissioner Leh Romil Singh Donk (IAS) extended a warm welcome to Ms. Singh and thanked her for personally reviewing the programme’s implementation in the border district.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including SSP Leh Shruti Arora (IPS), Additional District Development Commissioner Sonam Nurboo (JKAS), Chief Planning Officer Tsewang Gyalson, and representatives from multiple departments.
CPO Leh presented a comprehensive overview of the VVP’s progress, covering achievements in border villages and thematic areas such as eco-system regeneration, livelihood generation, tourism infrastructure, off-grid electricity, and road connectivity. He also demonstrated the use of a digital monitoring portal where real-time updates on infrastructure, schemes, and new proposals are uploaded by departmental officers.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Sweta Singh stated that the purpose of her visit was to gather first-hand feedback for submission to the PMO. She encouraged open dialogue and asked officers to share their experiences, observed benefits, and visible changes brought by the VVP. Officers reported improved connectivity, better public services, and a growing sense of development in remote regions. They also pointed out existing gaps and proposed actionable solutions to enhance the programme’s impact.
The session concluded with DC Leh expressing gratitude to Ms. Singh on behalf of all departments for her valuable insights and continued support in strengthening the development of Ladakh’s border villages.
