Leh, Feb 3:
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Leh has commenced the second batch of its Winter Training Programme aimed at strengthening English teaching skills and laboratory integration in schools across Ladakh.
The five-day programme, being conducted from February 2 to 6, is organised under the aegis of the Education Department, UT Administration of Ladakh, in collaboration with Golden Mile Learning. The training is designed for Class VIII government school teachers from Leh–Chuchot, Khaltsi and Kharu educational zones, along with English teachers from private institutions. A total of 37 teachers are participating in the programme.
The inaugural session was presided over by Principal DIET Leh, Shri Mirza Mehdi, who welcomed participants, subject experts, Golden Mile Learning officials and RTT Indigenous Trainers. District Supervisor Golden Mile Learning, Smt. Rinchen Angmo, delivered the opening address and provided an overview of the training initiative.
The programme began with a workshop on Communication Mastery and Child Safety, conducted by Shri Irfan-Ul-Salam of DIET Leh. The subsequent sessions, scheduled from Day Two to Day Five, focus on English grammar teaching, particularly tenses, integration of the CBSE Poorvi textbook, and lab-based teaching methodologies.
The sessions are being facilitated by LAHDC-RTT Indigenous Trainers — Ms Tashi Zangmo, Ms Spalzes Angmo and Ms Diskit Dolma, who are professionally certified educators selected from over 400 trained English teachers across six educational zones of Leh-Ladakh. The English Lab Integration sessions are being conducted by Shri Tsering Tundup, Lecturer, DIET Leh.
The training programme is receiving academic support from Golden Mile Learning, with offline monitoring by Subject Expert and Observer Shri Vishvanath Kakulde and online academic guidance by Dr. Neepa Oza, Programme Director (Education), Golden Mile Learning, along with on-ground implementation support.
Officials stated that the initiative aims to enhance classroom teaching practices, promote effective lab integration, and develop a sustainable pool of locally empowered teacher trainers, thereby contributing to long-term academic excellence in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
