Kargil: In Ladakh, in a concerted effort to combat substance abuse, the District Health Society, in conjunction with the District Mental Health Program Kargil and the Department of English at the Government Degree College, organized an enlightening Awareness Program on Substance Abuse.

The event, held at Government Degree College Kargil, aimed to educate and sensitize students about the perils of substance abuse, shedding light on its detrimental effects on individuals and society at large, while advocating for the adoption of healthier lifestyles.

Dr. Jalil, the Block Medical Officer of Kargil, elucidated the hazards of tobacco abuse in a dedicated presentation, emphasizing the importance of curbing its usage for overall well-being.

Further enriching the discourse, Dr. Murtaza Ali, Consultant Neuro-Psychiatry at the District Mental Health Program Kargil, delivered a detailed presentation on substance abuse and its consequences, offering valuable perspectives for understanding and addressing the issue effectively.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Tohira, another esteemed faculty member of the Department of English at Government Degree College Kargil, expressing gratitude to all participants and stakeholders for their contributions towards fostering awareness and advocacy against substance abuse.
