Kargil, February 24, 2026: Several delegations from across Kargil district called on Ashish Kundra, Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Ladakh, at Hotel The Kargil, raising a wide range of public issues and developmental demands.
A delegation led by Executive Councillor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz, along with several councillors, pressed for expediting land digitisation in line with SO-75. They stressed that speedy digitalisation of land records would enhance transparency, improve efficiency, and streamline public service delivery.
Another delegation headed by Councillor Town, Haji Abass Adulpa, flagged pressing urban concerns, including the stray dog menace in Kargil town, sanctioning of a 24×7 Urban Primary Health Centre (PHC), and administrative approval for a proposed multi-level car parking facility to ease traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, representatives from the Yourbaltak constituency highlighted irrigation and water resource issues. They sought sanction for the second phase of the Lift Irrigation Scheme, a comprehensive groundwater survey, and approval of pending irrigation canal projects. The delegation also invited the Chief Secretary to visit the area for an on-ground assessment.
Chief Secretary Kundra gave a patient hearing to all delegations and assured them that genuine demands would be addressed in a phased and coordinated manner with the concerned departments. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to resolving public issues and accelerating developmental works across Kargil district.
