
Delegations from Sarhad Pune, Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Basgo village call on LG
Leh: A delegation comprising members of Sarhad Pune led by its Technical Director, Shri Vasant Gokhale, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Saturday.
Gokhale apprised the LG of the upcoming Kargil International Marathon, organised by Sarhad, Pune in association with Ladakh Police, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil and District Administration, Kargil, to be held on September 18 and 19 in Kargil. He informed about Sarhad Pune’s association with the Kargil International Marathon and requested the LG to attend the event as the chief guest.
The LG commended their contribution towards organising the marathon in Kargil and assured of all possible assistance.
A delegation from the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile comprising Member of Parliament, Dawa Tsering; Member of Parliament, Tenpa Yangphel; Member of Parliament, Yeshi Dolma; President, Local Tibetan Assembly, Dhundup Tsering and Officiating Community Representative Officer (CRO), Karma Sonam called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
The delegates apprised the LG of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, the democratically elected leaders in exile and the representatives of over six million Tibetans- both within Tibet and in exile.
They informed the LG that the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile has 45 Members of Parliament in various countries who are working for the benefit of the Tibetans across the world.
The LG commended the Member of Parliaments of Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile for their initiatives for the benefit of Tibetans. He informed them of the assistance provided by the UT Administration, LAHDC Leh and PRI members for the development of the Tibetan communities residing in Ladakh.
A delegation from Basgo village led by Chairperson, Block Development Council, Nimoo Rigzin Chorol, called on the LG at Raj Niwas. Secretary, PWD, Ladakh, Micheal D Souza, IAS and Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh, Shri Tashi Chombel were present in the meeting.
Chorol apprised the LG of the delay in the construction of the bridge at Basgo village and requested for his intervention in the early completion of the work. Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh Tashi Chombel informed the LG about the status of the remaining work of the bridge. He informed that the existing bridge was submerged during the construction of the dam for the Nimoo-Basgo Hydel Project by NHPC.
He further informed the LG about the assurance given by NHPC to construct a new bridge for which they had sanctioned Rs 8 crores. He said that the allocation of extra funds is needed to complete the remaining work of the bridge and the revised Administrative Approval (AA) needs to be accorded so that the contractor can start work on the bridge.
Chorol further informed LG about the exclusion of the new work plan proposed by them in the State Sector Plan.
The LG directed Secretary, PWD, Micheal D’Souza to issue the Administrative Approval in this regard to expedite the completion of the remaining work on the bridge.
He also instructed that the inflation in the detailed project report (DPR) for the construction of the bridge should be within the prescribed limit.
The LG asked Chorol to meet Secretary, Rural Development Department, Amit Sharma and discuss the case with him in detail so that necessary actions could be taken in this regard.
