KARGIL: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Dr Mohd. Jaffer Akhoon, was called upon by a delegation from Lalung Thasgaum regarding the ongoing Lift Irrigation project in the region.

The delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting their concerns and requested the completion of the lift irrigation project up to the planned target point at Khyoktsey.

During the meeting, the delegation raised several pressing issues including the hazardous condition of the existing pipeline, which they urged should be fixed and fitted properly.

They also emphasized the need for extension and protection work on the supply channel, construction of a reservoir tank for water collection and storage, and protection of the gate valve at the flash point to ensure smooth and uninterrupted water supply.

Furthermore, the delegation requested the appointment of a Hindi teacher under the Samagra Shiksha scheme for the local school.

In response, Dr. Akhoon assured the delegation that the administration is committed to ensuring the successful and timely completion of the Lift Irrigation project.

He informed them that high-quality machinery with warranty has been procured this time to ensure the durability and efficiency of the system. He also stated that he has already directed the councern departments to expedite the remaining work on priority.

Dr. Akhoon further urged the delegation to submit a list of beneficiaries eligible for various government schemes to ensure that benefits reach the deserving individuals without any discrimination.

He also encouraged the formation of a local committee to oversee the transparent and smooth implementation of government welfare schemes.

“As the Chief Executive Councillor and also the elected representative of your constituency, I am deeply committed to my responsibilities. I assure you that all your genuine demands will be fulfilled at the earliest possible,” Dr. Akhoon stated.

The meeting concluded with a note of cooperation and mutual understanding, reflecting the administration’s dedication to addressing public concerns and promoting equitable development.
