Proposes to set up campus of IIM Jammu in Ladakh
Leh, Apr 28: A delegation from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu, led by its Director, Prof BS Sahay, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas today.
The delegation submitted a proposal to set up a campus of IIM Jammu in Ladakh. They shared their plan to set up an Incubation, Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Centre to introduce women entrepreneurship programmes, women financial literacy programmes and entrepreneurship orientation programme for college students; provide career counselling to students and organise training and development programmes; organise mindfulness and happiness retreats and leadership retreats, etc.
The delegation apprised about two programmes started by them, namely Dual Degree Programme (BTech and MBA) with IIT Jammu and MBA (Hospital Administration & Healthcare Management) with AIIMS Jammu and IIT Jammu.
LG Mathur requested IIM Jammu to provide handholding to young entrepreneurs till the step for the establishment of a viable business unit since a majority of youth from Ladakh are first-generation entrepreneurs and sometimes first-generation graduates. He stressed on the need to overcome the challenge of converting economic opportunities into real income for the youth of Ladakh. He stated that IIM Jammu may thus introduce programmes tailored to the needs of the students from Ladakh.
